Project Steps for Establishing a Mental Health Community in Schools

Our project aims to create a culture and community focused on mental health, applicable to any school facing similar needs. Here are the steps we followed:
1. Assess the Current Situation We began by conducting a survey to understand the concerns and needs of our community, providing us with a solid starting point.

2. Brainstorming Solutions With the information gathered, we held a brainstorming session to propose creating a community that involves students and raises awareness about mental health. We considered the information technologies we could use and the creative, accessible content we could develop.

3. Instagram Channel Creation We decided to create an Instagram channel where students can produce videos discussing what mental health is, sharing strategies, impacts on their lives, and even personal experiences.

4. Podcast Development Building on our ideas, we explored launching a Spotify channel to host podcasts focused on mental health topics.

5. Emotional Management Games To support emotional management, we developed various games and quizzes for students to participate in.

6. Family Support Blogs Our surveys revealed that family plays a crucial role in supporting students. Consequently, we created blogs on different topics of interest to help parents support their children.

7. Virtual Chat Bot We recognize that adolescents do not always feel comfortable expressing their emotions. Therefore, we are considering the creation of a virtual ChatBot that behaves like an empathetic professional therapist, complete with a detailed prompt.

8. Early Emotional Awareness During our problem analysis, we recognized the importance of addressing emotions from a young age. This led to the idea of creating a Lego Spike robot call Emocibot. Using sensors, Emocibot detects a child's emotional state through color and suggests activities to help them. We also decided to build two additional robots for entertainment and a dog robot.

9. Community Presentation Once the project was completed, we presented the resources to the educational community for their use.

10. Final Survey Finally, we conducted a follow-up survey to assess the project's positive impact. The results were overwhelmingly positive, with participants viewing it as a valuable tool that significantly improved their mental health.

Our proposal is to implement similar projects in schools to address the real needs of children and adolescents. We aim to empower students to build a community and create a platform that serves youth, by youth.
